Commercial property and casualty insurer Zurich North America has announced the appointment of Tom Morelli to the newly created position of head of U.S. Energy, where he will lead a new strategic business unit within the specialty area.
Based in New York, Morelli will be responsible for setting the technical and strategic direction of the new U.S. energy sector and overseeing the marine product portfolio.
He has more than 25 years of industry experience and joins Zurich from Everest National Insurance Company where he served as senior vice president. During this time, he created and organized an energy industry practice group.
Prior to that, Morelli served as executive vice president and chief underwriting officer of Global Special Risks.
He also held senior leadership positions at AIG, most recently as President of Global Energy Incidents.
