Specialist reinsurance broker Willis Re has welcomed three new employees: Freddie Vaughan, Graham Devlin and Nicola McIntosh, who join the company from Marsh McLennan’s reinsurance arm Guy Carpenter.
Vaughan has over 14 years’ experience in the specialty reinsurance market, having started his career in JLT Re’s Marine Energy and Terrorism team where he worked for five years before joining Guy Carpenter’s Marine and Energy Specialty team in 2016.
With a client-centric mindset, energy and strong technical capabilities, the executive has developed a deep understanding of the London reinsurance and retrocession markets working with clients in London, Europe, the United States and Bermuda.
These experiences have given him a deep understanding of the evolution of specialty programs and how clients can effectively manage the volatility of their portfolios.
Willis Re board member Lucy Clarke said: “Freddie is a perfect fit for the business we are building. His professional insight and client-focused approach support our ambition to deliver high-quality advice and grow purposefully in key areas of the market.”
Devlin brings 45 years of industry experience to Willis Re, having started his marine reinsurance career in 1980 with Zurich Re in London. Previously, he held various roles at Lloyd’s TM Jones Syndicate 1097, Kemper Re and Alliance Re.
Most recently, he worked at Guy Carpenter, where he built a successful team and helped attract a diverse client base across specialty areas.
Commenting on his appointment, Clark said: “Graham is widely respected for his technical prowess and unwavering client focus. His experience in underwriting and broking and his global perspective will further strengthen our specialist business. We are delighted to have him join us.”
McIntosh began her insurance career with Guy Carpenter in 2007, starting in claims and building a strong technical foundation by working closely with adjusters and surveyors.
In 2012, she moved to a wording and customer support position, which allowed her to gain expertise in coverage analysis and contract documentation.
Since then, the executive has gained experience in international brokerage (particularly LMX) as well as global client service, managing major accounts in multiple geographies.
She has proven strengths in client management, leading RFP and project initiatives, and supporting complex layouts across diverse markets.
“Nicola combines technical precision with true leadership and collaborative thinking. She enhances our ability to serve our clients while also shaping the next generation of talent at Willis Re,” said Clark.
