Tysers Singapore, a specialist insurance and reinsurance broker, has announced that William Furness-Smith has been formally appointed Chief Executive Officer, following approval by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS).
In June 2026, Tysers appointed Furness-Smith as interim CEO of Tysers Singapore following the departure of Babita Rai, CEO and Executive Director, Reinsurance.
In his role as CEO, Furness-Smith will lead Tysers’ ambitious insurance and reinsurance growth strategy across the region, working closely with the team in Singapore and colleagues across the wider Tysers network.
He brings extensive experience in the marine market and has a longstanding association with the APAC region.
Furness-Smith joined Tysers in April 2015, most recently serving as Marine Hull Director. Prior to joining Tysers, he served as a Marine Hull Broker at Marsh McLennan.
Tom Wilson, CEO of Tysers, commented, “I am delighted that William’s appointment as CEO of Tysers Singapore has been confirmed by MAS. Since joining the Singapore office, William’s market knowledge, strategic insight and insightful leadership have further strengthened our offering in the region. His appointment reflects both the strength of talent within Tysers and our commitment to growing our presence and capabilities across APAC.”
Furness-Smith added, “I am pleased to be formally appointed CEO of Tysers Singapore following MAS approval. We have a strong and talented team whose expertise and commitment provide an excellent foundation for continued development in Singapore and across the region. I look forward to working with my colleagues at Tysers to strengthen our client relationships, further develop our specialist capabilities and build on the firm foundations already in place.”
