To improve its flood response capabilities and assist policyholders during natural disasters, Sompo Japan Insurance Inc., a provider of property and casualty insurance services in Japan, has partnered with ICEYE, a specialist in satellite-based disaster management solutions, to deploy its Flood Insights solution.
The adoption of satellite data like ICEYE’s Flood Insights forms part of Sompo Japan’s wider Hikeshi DNA 2030 Project, which aims to enhance regional resilience.
A key focus of this initiative is building stronger capabilities across every phase of a natural disaster – before, during, and after – enabling communities and clients to prepare and recover from increasingly severe natural hazards.
Yasuhiro “Pete” Tsukahara, CEO of ICEYE Japan, commented: “We are delighted to be expanding our presence in Japan and supporting Sompo Japan’s efforts to better serve its customers.
“By providing rapid and accurate intelligence on the extent and severity of flood events, ICEYE can help enable a faster and more efficient claims response in the aftermath of a major flood event.
“We look forward to supporting Sompo Japan as it continues to strengthen resilience and improve outcomes for customers affected by natural disasters.”
