Santam Re, the reinsurance arm of South African insurance company Santam, has announced the appointment of Izabela Stofberg as Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO).
Stoffberg will take on the new role as part of his continued focus on underwriting expertise and reinsurance capabilities.
She has extensive experience in the reinsurance and insurance sectors. She has been with Santam since 2019, most recently as Head of Cluster Markets for Europe, Türkiye and Partnerships.
Prior to this, she served as regional head of reinsurance (treaty) for Central and Eastern Europe and Türkiye, where she was responsible for managing treaty reinsurance activities in these markets.
Prior to joining Santam, Stofberg gained professional underwriting experience as an engineering and construction underwriter at Everest Reinsurance Company. Earlier in her career, she worked at Willis Re for more than eight years, rising to division director and working on the global engineering treaty team.
Santam Re said Stofberg’s appointment reflects the company’s continued investment in leadership and underwriting capabilities in supporting clients and partners in its reinsurance business.
