Pacific Life Re names Soichiro Makimoto as Head of Japan Representative Office

Life and health reinsurer Pacific Life Re has appointed Soichiro Makimoto as head of its Japan representative office.

The move reinforces the reinsurer’s long-term commitment to the Japanese market.

In his new role, Soichiro will strengthen Pacific Life Re’s operations in Japan and gain a deeper understanding of customer needs to support the company’s regional growth objectives.

Most recently, Makimoto served as Vice President, Senior Credit Officer, Moody’s Japan for nearly ten years. He has over 25 years of experience in the insurance and banking sectors.

Prior to joining Moody’s, Makimoto served as head of the actuarial team at Aon Benfield in Tokyo for more than five years, where his responsibilities included reinsurance and insurance consulting as well as credit ratings consulting. He began his career as a consultant to financial institutions at PricewaterhouseCoopers, eventually serving as an insurance consultant at Willis Towers Watson and as a structured finance ratings analyst at Moody’s Investors Service.
