Kristen Bell has opened up about a scary moment she faced when filming a beach scene in the latest season of the Netflix rom-com Nobody Wants This.
Speaking to her husband Dax Shephard on the latest episode of his podcast Armchair Expert, Kristen recalled that she and around “10 members of the crew” were involved in a “near-death experience” behind the scenes of the series.
The Emmy nominee, joined on the podcast by co-stars Adam Brody, Justine Lupe, and Timothy Simons, explained that the incident took place when she and the crew entered waves more than two metres tall to film a scene for season three of Nobody Wants This.

“I had to go out to at least where my sternum was, and I went out with, I think, nine or 10 crew members, and we had one-for-one stunts with us, which means every person has a stunt person bracing them,” she explained.
The Frozen star recalled that amid the “mayhem” of the dangerous currents, she tried “to speak [her] Hebrew” before “dunking” herself “until the wave eventually crashes”.
“Just before it’s about to crash, all the stunt people start screaming,” she continued, before explaining that she was saved when she was “hoisted in the air” by two of the stunt women.
“Every crew member [had] a stunt person, like, pushing them into the sand,” the Forgetting Sarah Marshall star added, recalling how the camera operator and both cameras were also getting “pummelled by the waves”.
Worse still, after the dangerous episode, the shoot’s director told the cast they “didn’t get the shot” they needed, and told Kristen she’d need to “go out again.”
Despite her fears that “somebody was going to be washed away”, thankfully, everyone managed to complete the shoot safely.
“When you watch the show, you’ll notice the only angle they use is the side angle because the front-on angle, it was horrific to watch,” Kristen explained, though she conceded on the pod that despite her ordeal, the scene turned out to look “amazing”.
