Niyam Group, an India-focused reinsurance platform, has appointed Ash Bathia as a non-executive director to its board of directors.
An industry veteran with nearly 50 years of experience, Bathia began his career as a casualty underwriter with Eagle Star in 1979 and spent 18 years with the company.
He currently serves as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and active underwriter of Probitas 1492, a specialist Lloyds Group specializing in property, casualty and specialty re/insurance, fully owned by UK insurer Aviva. Bathia has held this position since 2015.
His other key experiences include serving as Chief Underwriting Officer for QBE Europe’s property, casualty and automotive divisions
It’s been 16 years.
During this period, Bathia was also an active underwriter on Syndicate 386, 1886 and 2000 and served as a statutory board director of QBE Insurance Europe Ltd and Limit Underwriting Ltd (Lloyd’s), and was a member of the Executive Committee of QBE Europe.
