Engineering insurance and inspection services provider HSB (UK and Ireland) has announced that Managing Director Terry Dyson has decided to retire at the end of March 2026.
Dyson has a forty-year career in the insurance industry. He joined HSB in 2019, eventually becoming Commercial Director in 2022, successfully leading the company’s sales, business development, partnerships and operations teams.
In 2024, he was promoted to Managing Director, HSB Engineering Insurance, with responsibility for driving growth through the specialist engineering and technology insurer’s core insurance products
HSB chief executive Andrew Burke will now begin a formal search for Dyson’s successor, which will include considering internal and external candidates.
Dyson’s insurance career began in 1986 with National Vulcan Engineering Group (formerly part of Sun Alliance Group). He has since held a range of senior positions in the insurance industry, from frontline sales to strategic leadership.
Dyson commented: “I am extremely grateful for everything the insurance industry has given me. I am also proud of the difference I have made and the success I have achieved throughout my career.
“I would like to give special thanks to the many people who have helped, mentored and supported me along the way. I will ensure a smooth transition between now and the end of March, then step onto the sideline as HSB’s biggest supporter and advocate to help deliver their exciting future plans.”
Burke said: “Terry worked in the insurance industry for 40 years, six of which were with HSB UK & Ireland, and he will be missed. I look forward to working closely with Terry and his team to continue our momentum in 2026.”
