Munich Re’s net profit for the second quarter of 2026 was about 2.2 billion euros, according to preliminary data, helped by strong operating results across the group and “very low” major loss expenses in the property and casualty (P&C) reinsurance business.
The global reinsurer posted a net profit of €1.7 billion in the first quarter of 2026. Combined with preliminary results for the second quarter of 2026, net profit for the first six months of the year was approximately 3.9 billion euros.
As a result, Munich Re said it remains “firm” to achieve its full-year net profit target of 6.3 billion euros for fiscal 2026, despite market speculation that the company may revise its guidance amid continued market weakness.
Munich Re also said that preliminary results included very strong investment results, which contributed significantly to the extraordinary net profit of approximately 300 million euros reported by the group’s main insurance subsidiary ERGO.
The company added that it will release complete results for the second quarter of 2026 on August 7, 2026, as planned.
