Zurich-domiciled reinsurer MS Reinsurance (MS Re), part of global insurance group MS&AD, has appointed Julien Mollinier as Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO), Global Speciality Lines.
Simultaneously, the firm has promoted Joscelin Burrer as Head of Financial Risks, and appointed Pius Leupi as Lead Underwriter, Financial Risks.
Mollinier’s appointment is effective early 2027, and will be based in Zurich. He succeeds Jörg Bruniecki, who assumed the position of CUO for MS Re earlier this year. In his new role, Mollinier will lead MS Re’s Global Speciality team, and drive its strategic development.
He has over two decades of industry experience, across financial risks, alongside broad property and casualty (P&C), and speciality market experience. He has held senior leadership positions at Aspen Re, and TransRe, where most recently, he served as President of Europe, the Middle East, and Asia (EMEA).
Meanwhile, in his new role, Burrer will report to Mollinier and be based in New York. He joined the company earlier this year and has served as interim Head of Financial Risks following Paul Murphy’s departure in April.
Burrer has over 25 years of experience across reinsurance, P&C, and senior leadership roles, including as Head of Credit and Surety for Markel Global Reinsurance.
Leupi will be based in Zurich and will work closely with Burrer and the broader financial risks team to build on our strong market presence. He was most recently the Head of Credit and Surety, EMEA & APAC at Swiss Re.
Bruniecki commented, “Julien brings a strong blend of strategic leadership, as well as technical and broad market experience, all of which will be invaluable to strengthen our Global Speciality Lines team and business. We look forward to welcoming him in 2027.”
