US insurance company The Hartford has announced the appointment of Julian Samuel, former head of natural resources at MS Amlin, as head of global specialty areas international marine, energy and industrial risk.
Samuel joins The Hartford with more than thirty years of industry experience. Prior to his new role, the executive served as a non-executive director at a nuclear risk insurer and as head of natural resources at MS Amlin, a role he held for six years.
Prior to joining MS Amlin, Samuel spent 24 years with Markel International, the global insurance arm of the Markel Group.
“Jules brings deep industry expertise and global perspective that will be invaluable as we continue to strengthen our capabilities internationally,” said Carl Bach, CEO of Hartford Underwriting.
Adding: “It’s great to have him on board and I look forward to working with him to expand our relevance and ambition in these key areas of expertise.”
