We were still getting over the surprise of the 2012 ITV miniseries Leaving having a resurgence on Netflix when we spotted that viewers had also boosted another decade-old British drama onto the platform’s most-watched right now chart.

At the time of writing, the third most-watched series on Netflix UK is Love Life, a three-part series that aired on ITV in 2012 just months before Leaving.

Love Life centres around Joe and Lucy, a young couple, played by Downton Abbey’s Robert James-Collier and DCI Banks’ Andrea Lowe.

When Lucy tells Joe she wants to start trying for a baby, it sends him into a spiral, and he leaves to go travelling for a year.

Upon his return, he discovers that things are not as they were when he left, with plenty of complications along the way as he tries to win back his ex, who has entered a very different phase of her life.

Love Life also features the likes of Pointless host Alexander Armstrong and Olivier winner Sophie Thompson among its main cast.

See, we told you things in Love Life get complicated very quickly

Despite first airing 14 years ago, the show has clearly won over viewers, catapulting up Netflix’s most-watched chart in the UK just days after it was added on Monday 5 October, where it’s currently positioned ahead of the latest seasons of Netflix originals like Monster and The Gentlemen.

This is far from the first instance of an old show enjoying a resurgence after being added to Netflix, though.

In the past year alone, programmes like the true crime drama See No Evil, ITV’s Black Work and even classic episodes of Marple have landed themselves back in the zeitgeist, after being revisited by Netflix users.
