Liberty Mutual Reinsurance Group (LM Re), a division of Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, announced the appointment of Tom Spurgeon as global head of cyber reinsurance.
Spurgeon succeeds Ivonne Staisch, who left the company after seven years of service to pursue new opportunities.
Based in London, Spurgeon will report to Susan Barber, head of financial risk at LM Re Reinsurance.
In his new role, he will be responsible for the growth of LM Re’s global network portfolio and work with brokers and clients to develop structured network solutions.
Spurgeon has been with Liberty Mutual Reinsurance Group for the past nine years and was recently recognized for his leadership on the Network Reinsurance Committee of the London International Underwriting Association.
Earlier in his career, he served at Catlin and Chaucer Syndicates and from 2022 to 2025 served as Chairman of the Network Reinsurance Committee of the London International Underwriting Association.
