Insurance intermediary and advisory firm Howden Ireland has confirmed the acquisition of Opes Private Clients Limited, a Dublin-based financial services company specializing in financial, retirement and investment planning.
Howden Ireland said the transaction will support the continued growth of its financial advisory team in Ireland and further strengthen its financial advisory offering with additional expertise and broader capabilities.
Opes Wealth Trust was established by Cathal McCabe to provide financial planning advice to sole traders, business owners and private clients.
Howden Ireland reports that the Opes Wealth Trust team of experienced professionals will become part of Howden Ireland, which the company says will help continue to expand its client base.

The development follows Howden Ireland’s acquisition of Maven Financial Planning in April 2026 and is part of the firm’s wider strategy to enhance its financial advisory capabilities. Established last year and led by Managing Director Dermot Gaskin, the Howden Ireland team consists of more than 80 professionals serving the insurance and financial advice needs of a large client base across Ireland.
The acquisition of Opes Private Clients Limited is still subject to approval by the Central Bank of Ireland (CBI).
