Andy Buddell has joined global insurance and reinsurance brokerage group Howden as Asia chief operating officer (COO) based in Malaysia.
Bader will oversee operational strategy as the group continues to scale and innovate across the region.
The executive has extensive experience in international insurance markets, having led operational and strategic transformations in global markets.
“His deep understanding of the insurance industry and his record of driving operational excellence make him a valuable addition to our regional leadership team,” a Howden spokesman said.
Adding: “Andy’s appointment is a key step in strengthening our regional foundation as we continue to scale and innovate in Asia.”
Buddell joins Howden after seven years at French insurance company AXA, where he was most recently director of international market operations.
In this role, he is responsible for the strategy and governance of AXA International Markets’ technology and operations.
As head of International Markets, he is also responsible for the operational workflow of the group’s multi-year “Technology, Data and Operations” transformation program.
He joined AXA in 2019 as Asia Market Operations Director, where he manages technology governance and the “Move to the Cloud” initiative.
Prior to joining AXA, he worked as a strategy and business planning consultant at AmGeneral Insurance Berhad.
During his career, he has also worked with companies such as Dimension Data, AIG Global Services (Malaysia), CIMB Aviva Assurance (Aviva’s former joint venture with CIMB Group of Malaysia) and Aviva.
