German multi-specialist insurance broker MAP launches with Inflexion backing

European mid-market private equity firm Inflexion, through its buyout fund VI, has invested in Mittelstands-Assekuranz-Partner (MAP), a new German multi-specialty insurance brokerage.

To immediately scale up, Düsseldorf-based Cremer Assekuranz has joined MAP as its first strategic partner.

Founded by industry veterans Mathias Pahl and Markus Hausberger, MAP is a Munich-based multi-specialty insurance brokerage that aims to be a comprehensive, technology-leading partner serving mid-market corporate, commercial and high-net-worth private clients in Germany.

By combining local accessibility with expert risk consulting, MAP remains focused on artificial intelligence and digitalization.

MAP enters the German brokerage market at a time of structural evolution. Mid-sized brokers are grappling with challenges including succession planning, shortages of skilled professionals and growing demand for technology, digitalization and artificial intelligence.

At the same time, mid-market clients now demand the complex insurance solutions typical of large companies, as well as the personal service and responsiveness of traditional broker partnerships.

Cremer Assekuranz, MAP’s first strategic partner, is a long-established commercial line broker based in Düsseldorf, serving regional SMEs and fine art collectors.

Kolja Zweeering, Managing Director of Cremer since 2005, joins the MAP management team as owners together with founders Mathias Pahl (CEO) and Markus Hausberger (CFO).

Inflexion’s support will help MAP become Germany’s leading insurance broker.

The company offers franchise brokers the opportunity to retain their identity and entrepreneurial culture while gaining access to central infrastructure, expertise, technology and growth resources.

By integrating AI capabilities from the start, MAP aims to enhance its operations while retaining the personal, relationship-driven model that German customers value.

Flor Kassai, Managing Partner and Head of Acquisitions at Inflexion, commented: “We are delighted to support the launch of MAP and to work with the outstanding founding team. Together with Mathias, Markus and Kolja, we see a clear opportunity to build a differentiated insurance broker for the German mid-market.”

Andrea Bertolini, partner and head of financial services at Inflexion, said: “We have helped build specialist brokers in the UK for over a decade and understand how to create a truly integrated, differentiated proposition. We saw a clear opportunity to bring this experience to the DACH region and in the MAP founders we found a fantastic team with the ambition, credibility and local insight to build a leading insurance broker for Mittelstand.”

Mathias Pahl, CEO of MAP, said: “Our aim is to give German mid-market customers access to specialized insurance solutions that were previously reserved for large companies, combined with personal advice and modern technology. With MAP, we have built a company from the outset that stands for high consulting quality, an entrepreneurial culture and a strong service range. With the support of Inflexion, we can quickly realize this proposition.”
