One of Netflix’s most-anticipated events of the year is almost upon us.
The new miniseries adaptation of East Of Eden will premiere on the platform on Thursday morning, with Oscar nominee Florence Pugh taking on the iconic role of Cathy Ames, alongside the likes of Christopher Abbott and Mike Faist.
Ahead of the seven-part drama’s debut, its creator and writer Zoe Kazan shared a message to fans, suggesting the optimum conditions to enjoy her work.
“Letter of recommendation: watch on the biggest screen you can and put your phone down first,” Zoe wrote on X on Wednesday afternoon.
“So much of this story is told visually/through performance and I don’t want you to miss anything.”
The Emmy nominee added that the “best place for a break” would be between episodes four and five, for any viewers planning on binge-watching the whole thing in as few sittings as possible.
“I’m gonna try to stay offline for my mental health. But we’re so excited for you to watch,” Zoe added.
“We made this series with love and curiosity and care and six years of deep thought and work. It won’t be for everyone, and that’s OK. If you love it, please share it. Timshel, thou mayest.”
Netflix’s new take on East Of Eden takes inspiration from the hugely popular John Steinbeck novel of the same name.
The book has previously been adapted for the screen on numerous occasions over the years, perhaps most notably in the 1955 film, which starred Hollywood icon James Dean.
An official synopsis for Netflix’s adaptation previously teased: “A Steinbeck classic gets a fresh interpretation. East Of Eden will explore the multigenerational saga of the Trask family, focussing new attention on its indelible antihero, Cathy.”
East Of Eden will stream on Netflix from Thursday 1 October. Check out the trailer below:
