Global insurance broker Howden has announced the appointment of Diego Sánchez Canencia as head of analytics at Madrid-based Howden Re Iberia.
With this appointment, the company further strengthens its analytical capabilities in the region, as it continues to invest in reinsurance products in Spain and Portugal.
In his new role, Sánchez Canencia will lead Howden Re Iberia’s analytics delivery, working closely with local brokerage teams and the wider Howden Re Analytics platform to deliver advanced actuarial analysis, pricing insights and reinsurance optimization to clients.
David Santos Manzanares, Managing Director and Head of Iberia at Howden Re, said: “Diego’s appointment demonstrates our commitment to building best-in-class analytics capabilities across Iberia. As demand for data-driven reinsurance solutions continues to grow, having someone of Diego’s caliber enables us to deliver more sophisticated insights to our clients. I am delighted to welcome him to our team.”
Sánchez Canencia brings nearly a decade of reinsurance and actuarial experience to Howden, joining Howden from Guy Carpenter Iberia where he spent nearly seven years.
The executive also previously held an actuarial role at SPB Seguros, specializing in reinsurance pricing, project optimization and actuarial modeling.
Sánchez Canencia’s appointment will further strengthen Howden Re Iberia’s capabilities and strengthen the ability to provide clients with local expertise as part of Howden Re’s wider international strategy.
Florent Scarabin, Managing Director and Head of Actuarial Analysis at Howden Re International, commented: “Diego’s role strengthens the link between our local analysis team and the international actuarial platform.
“By bringing advanced actuarial expertise within Iberia, we enhance our ability to deliver consistent, high-quality analytical insights, combining local expertise with the full capabilities and resources of Howden Re’s global platform to support client decision-making across markets.
