Legacy acquirer DARAG Group has completed the transfer of third-party liability reinsurance portfolio from DVA Reinsurance dac (DVA Re), a captive reinsurance vehicle of German mobility and rail logistics group Deutsche Bahn AG.

Covering policies underwritten between 2000 to 2017, the transaction allows DVA Re to free up capital and eliminate long-term liability risk.

Tom Booth, CEO of DARAG, commented: “We are pleased to have reached this agreement with DVA Re, offering certainty over its outstanding liabilities and supporting its planned exit from the reinsurance market.

“This transaction demonstrates DARAG’s ability to deliver tailored legacy solutions for captive reinsurers, helping counterparties meet their strategic objectives. We remain committed to providing clients worldwide with a secure, long-term home for legacy liabilities.”

The deal with DVA Re is one of DARAG’s portfolio transfers this year. In May 2026, DARAG Deutschland AG completed a portfolio transfer agreement (PTA), approved by the German Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin), acquiring Ambra’s entire worldwide liability reinsurance portfolio covering underwriting years from the 1970s to the 2010s.

Additionally, DARAG secured approval from the UK High Court of Justice, to transfer two insurance portfolios to its UK carrier, DARAG Insurance UK Limited (DIUK).

Under the court-sanctioned scheme, effective as of late September, DIUK assumed responsibility for Soteria’s commercial liability book alongside DLUK’s reinsurance business.
