Global reinsurance broker and risk advisor Aon has announced the appointment of Christian Hoffman as global CEO of Commercial Risk, effective June 1.
Hoffman will leverage his 25 years of experience as a broker and underwriter in the insurance and financial services industries to lead Aon’s global commercial risk business.
He is tasked with advancing the firm’s strategy to help clients navigate increasing volatility by connecting complex risk needs with the most effective forms of risk capital.
Reporting to Aon Venture Capital CEO Joe Peiser, Hoffman will work with Aon Business Services and regional leadership teams to deliver integrated, analytics-driven solutions to clients.
“Business risk is at the core of how we help clients navigate an increasingly complex and interconnected risk environment,” said Peiser. “Christian has worked closely with clients throughout his career to address their most challenging risks, ranging from the cyber and financial sectors to emerging and systemic risks.
“He has Aon Associates in his DNA, bringing together expertise, analytics and market relationships to deliver better results. His deep professional experience and understanding of how to connect risk to the right form of capital positions him to lead commercial risks at a time when clients require greater clarity, flexibility and innovation.”
Hoffman currently serves as Aon’s global head of specialty products and financial products and head of North America M&A. In this role, he oversees a broad portfolio of businesses including financial services, professional services, cyber solutions, intellectual property, crisis management and credit solutions.
Since joining Aon in 2003, he has held a series of senior leadership roles, including global head of cyber; CEO of North American cyber solutions; president of U.S. cyber solutions; U.S. specialty risk solutions practice leader; and head of the financial services group’s eastern region.
His professional background also includes five years at Chubb as an underwriting manager and senior underwriter.
Hoffman commented, “I am honored to serve as the leader of the commercial risk group during this important time for our clients. Organizations face unprecedented risk complexity, from cyber and transactional risks to increasing natural disaster risk and adverse liability trends in the United States.
“Our unique ability to combine deep expertise, strong analytical capabilities and global market access is a real advantage, and I’m excited to work with colleagues around the world to deliver solutions that help our clients make better decisions.”
