Global professional and property and casualty (P&C) re/insurer Canopius Group has appointed Stacey Alioto as its new group chief operating officer to support the company as it continues to develop its international business and long-term growth strategy.
Ariotto will become a member of the Canopius Group leadership team and will report directly to Group CEO Neil Robertson. She is scheduled to take office in September 2026.
Alioto joins the company from HSBC, where he most recently served as deputy chief operating officer. In a career spanning more than 25 years, she has held senior operational leadership roles in more than 60 markets, leading up to 10,000 employees and overseeing significant operating budgets.
Canopius Group said she has extensive experience delivering large-scale operational planning and implementing business strategies across international organizations.
Canopius Group said the appointment will support the company’s next phase of growth as it expands its global presence and continues to invest in operational capabilities. The insurer said Alioto’s background in organizational transformation, operational delivery and building scalable business functions will support its focus on improving efficiency and sustaining future growth.

Ariotto will succeed Kate Roy, who is retiring after five years as group chief operating officer.
