Brown & Brown appoints Eileen Akerson as Chief Legal Officer

Brown & Brown, Inc., an insurance brokerage and risk management company, announced the appointment of Eileen Akerson as chief legal officer.

In her new role, Ackerson will join the Brown & Brown senior leadership team and will lead legal, regulatory, compliance and enterprise risk management efforts across the company.

She is a legal executive with more than 20 years of experience advising global public companies on issues of strategic legal importance.

Akerson has been with Brown & Brown for the past two years, serving as interim chief legal officer since January 2026 and previously serving as chief risk, regulatory and compliance counsel.

Prior to that, she spent more than two decades at KBR, Inc. in a variety of legal leadership roles, including most recently as executive vice president and general counsel, where she led all aspects of KBR’s global legal, commercial and enterprise risk management functions.
