Brace promotes Wheeler and Davis as regional Heads of Underwriting for US and London

Brace Underwriting Limited, a multi-line and alternative risk specialist underwriter backed by Octave Specialty Group Inc., has promoted Richard Wheeler to head of US underwriting and Michael Davis to head of Brace’s London underwriting.

The pair previously served as senior underwriters. Their appointments reflect a new management structure designed to support Brace’s expansion across its underwriting platform.

Brace conducts global projects through its Lloyd’s Group and US MGA businesses.

Under the new structure, Martin McBrearty remains as head of Brace UK and Europe, completing a team of three regional underwriting heads reporting to chief underwriting officer (CUO) Tom Sambrook.

Glenn Dorr will continue to drive business development as president and head of marketing for Brace USA, working closely with Wheeler to develop the US product portfolio based in the Boston area.

Sambrook commented: “Richard and Mike are both talented underwriters and have made a significant impact since joining Brace in 2024.

“Working with Martin and Glenn, we have assembled a high-performing team to drive the next phase of growth in our target regions.”

The changes follow a transition period for Brace, which included Sambrook’s move to Group CUO in April 2025 from his previous position as Head of Underwriting.

In addition, in February 2026, Albert Küller transitioned from Group Chief Financial Officer to Group Chief Executive Officer. The new leadership structure is effective April 1, 2026.

Küller said: “Brace is going through an exciting period of expansion. We are proud to have built a talented team of senior underwriting leaders to support the execution of our multi-platform strategy.
