Bermuda-based reinsurer PartnerRe has announced the retirement of James Beedle, CEO of its Asia Pacific (APAC) division.
He is an industry veteran who has been in this position for nearly a decade. The reinsurer has since appointed Sasa Hu as its new Asia Pacific Property & Casualty (P&C) CEO.
Ms. Hu has more than 20 years of industry experience and has served at PartnerRe for most of her career. Most recently, she served as Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) for Asia Pacific P&C.
Mr. Hu previously served as Director of Agriculture, Senior Underwriter, Senior Pricing Actuary, and Pricing Actuary at PartnerRe. She began her career as an actuary for Allianz Australia.
Following this appointment, David Xu has been named Chief Operating Officer, Property & Casualty (P&C), Asia Pacific. Most recently, he served as head of property and liability for clients in Japan, Australia, New Zealand and regionally.
In the past, Mr. Xu served as Assistant Vice President, Actuary of RenaissanceRe, Actuary of Tokio Millennium Re Ltd., Wesfarmers Insurance and Suncorp Group.
Finally, John Mok was appointed CEO of Partner Reinsurance Asia Pte. He joined PartnerRe in 2021 and has since served as CEO of Life & Health (L&H) in Asia Pacific and EMEA.
Prior to that, Mock spent more than eight years at Swiss Re, covering client markets (Property & Casualty and Insurance & Health) in Japan, China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. He also serves as a Director of Senior Account Managers.
Mok began his career at CommInsure as a Senior Actuarial Analyst, eventually serving as Country Business Development Manager for Australia.
He subsequently served as Director and Head of Business Development at American Reinsurance Group. The reinsurer noted that all appointments are effective from July 1, 2026.
