Ategrity Specialty Insurance Company has reported a 52% increase in net income to $75.4 million for the first nine months of 2026, as premium growth and stronger underwriting profitability drove higher earnings year on year.
Net income for the nine months ended September 30 rose to $75.4 million from $49.7 million in the same period of 2025, while net income attributable to stockholders increased 51% to $73.5 million from $48.7 million.
Ategrity’s gross written premiums for the period grew 20% to $514.7 million, while net written premiums rose 29% to $407.4 million. Meanwhile, net earned premiums increased 34% to $346.1 million.
The firm’s underwriting income climbed 79% in the first nine months of 2026 to $48.8 million, reportedly reflecting the expansion in earned premiums alongside improved underwriting performance.
The combined ratio for the period strengthened by 3.5 percentage points to 85.9%, with the loss ratio declining to 58.2% from 59.3% and the expense ratio falling to 27.7% from 30.2%.
For Q3 2026 alone, net income fell 53% to $11 million from $23.6 million a year earlier. Net income attributable to stockholders declined 36% to $14.6 million from $22.7 million.
Ategrity noted that the result included a $17.2 million net realised and unrealised loss on investments, compared with a $9.2 million gain in Q3 2025. Net investment income, meanwhile, increased 19% to $13.1 million.
However, underwriting performance remained strong in Q3 2026, with gross written premiums rising 15% to $165 million and net written premiums increasing 26% to $135.2 million.
Underwriting income climbed to $19.5 million from $10.6 million a year earlier, while the combined ratio improved to 84.7% from 88.7%.
Ategrity’s Chief Executive Officer Justin Cohen commented, “Ategrity delivered an exceptional quarter of underwriting performance, achieving a record low combined ratio of 84.7% and underwriting income growth of 83.7%.
“Business momentum was strong, with submissions growing 30% and gross written premiums increasing approximately 15%, well ahead of industry estimates of E&S premium growth.
“Our results reflect the strength of our differentiated underwriting model and the growing value of our productionised platform.
“With an expanding portfolio of specialty products, next-generation underwriting technology, and a broader distribution network, we are strengthening our competitive position and creating additional opportunities to capture market share and profitably compound growth.”
