Global specialist re/insurer Ascot Group Limited has appointed James Lee as President of Leadline Capital Partners, Ascot’s purpose-built third-party capital management platform to be launched in August 2024.
Lee has more than two decades of expertise in capital markets and insurance-linked securities (ILS), specializing in designing, building and deploying risk transfer and financing solutions for property and casualty insurance companies and reinsurers.
Most recently, he served as executive vice president and managing director of capital markets for Aspen Insurance Holdings/Sompo International.
Prior to that, he spent eight years at Deutsche Bank Securities Insurance Solutions Group, where he structured cat bond and sidecar transactions and provided capital and risk management advice to insurance clients.
Lee will reportedly oversee the company’s strategic direction and market development, building on Leadline Capital Partners’ solid foundation and growth trajectory, while leading its ILS program and global financing and investor engagement efforts.
He will be based out of the firm’s Stamford, Conn., offices and report to North America CEO Marc Amen, who commented: “James is a proven leader with extensive experience in insurance capital markets and insurance-related securities.
