Whitecap confirms space underwriting capacity from Jan 1

Reinsurance managing general agent Whitecap Underwriting Europe sro will start its aerospace underwriting business on January 1, 2026 through its subsidiary Whitecap Aerospace.

Whitecap Aerospace will deploy up to $8 million in funding from a Class A insurance company for launch, commissioning and on-orbit satellite risks.

Whitecap Space Director Tim Wright will host the course and will work with Whitecap Aerospace Director of Aviation David Godley and Director of Aviation Hull Warfare Mike Hart.

Wright has more than 36 years of experience in the space insurance market as a broker and underwriter.

His responsibilities in his new role include leveraging his respected market position, knowledge and long-standing business relationships to build successful new lines of insurance for Whitecap.

Godley commented: “With Tim’s experience and successful track record, we are confident we can achieve our goals of delivering consistent and profitable results for our new space insurance capacity provider.

“The commercial space business is growing rapidly with its demand for traditional and innovative insurance products, and we intend to actively contribute to this growth.”
