Insurer Tokio Marine Kiln (TMK) has strengthened its underwriting backbone by appointing George Leahy as underwriter in its liability division, where he will report directly to head of liability Oliver Delaney.
Leahy has eight years of casualty underwriting experience. Prior to joining Sompo International, he focused on international casualty risk, particularly in the heavy industry sector. There, he was responsible for managing a number of mid- to large-sized accounts in Canada and Australia.
Prior to this he spent five years working at Ascot Underwriting, where he gained expertise in construction, energy and mining courses. His work covers Canadian, Australian, European and Latin American risks, giving him a broad international perspective.
The appointment, which comes shortly after Oliver Delaney was promoted to lead TMK’s liability division, reflects the insurer’s continued focus on strengthening its expertise and market position.
Delaney added: “George is a great addition to our liability team. His broad technical base in international casualty, particularly in the complex heavy industry sector, coupled with his deep understanding of the Lloyd’s market will support our continued expansion and enhance our underwriting capabilities.”
“His experience across multiple geographies and distribution channels will help us achieve our growth goals, provide exceptional service to brokers and clients, and solidify our market-leading position.”
