Hannover Re US announced the appointment of Tiffany Norman as President and Chief Executive Officer of Hannover Re, effective January 1, 2026.
This appointment is an update to the September 3, 2025 announcement of Clint Thompson, who was to succeed Pete Schaefer.
For personal reasons, Thompson has chosen to transition to a new role as global chief leader, responsible for life and health portfolio guidance and reporting business performance to Brona Magee, a member of Hannover Re’s executive committee for life and health reinsurance.
The transition comes as Schaefer prepares to retire on December 31, 2025. The executive’s retirement ends a 27-year career with the company.
Schaefer, who joined in 1999 as chief actuary and was promoted to president and CEO in 2001, is credited with guiding Hannover Re USA through nearly three decades of transformative growth.
Norman brings nearly 20 years of professional industry experience to her new role, covering a wide range of areas including actuarial modelling, economic capital, valuation, financial reporting, pricing and product development.
She joined Hannover Re USA in 2006 and has since successfully led actuarial staffing and development for the US reinsurance company.
Most recently, Norman served as Executive Vice President and Head of Annuity Solutions and achieved significant success in driving growth for Hanover Re’s U.S. division.
