In the all-new Judges’ Callbacks round of America’s Got Talent, select Acts who received three or even four “Yes” votes at their Audition traveled to one of the four Judges’ homes to show off their talents once again and prove why they deserved a spot in the upcoming Live Shows, because there were simply more talented Acts than there are open slots.
To help guide their decisions, each Judge enlisted the help of a celebrity friend. In Week 1 of the Callbacks, Judge Mel B brought fellow Spice Girl Emma Bunton to her home in England, while Judge Simon Cowell hosted producer Poo Bear and singer Normani at his place in Malibu. All of the performing Acts were impressive, but cuts still had to be made, and at the end of the day, Mel cut three Acts, and Cowell cut one. Keep reading to find out what went down…
Mel B’s Judges’ Callbacks results
Lachlan Patterson
Act: Comedian
Result: Eliminated
Since Patterson’s routine needed an audience of more than just Scary Spice and Baby Spice, Mel took the whole crew to the local pub so Lachlan could do a surprise set. While his material was funny, his confidence was low, so she sent him home to work on himself.
Joel M
Act: Magic
Result: Eliminated
The former children’s entertainer found a ring inside a nut inside an egg inside a lemon, but given how high the magic bar is on AGT, it still wasn’t enough to make it to the Quarterfinals.
Butter & Grit
Act: Music
Result: Advanced to Live Shows
Their touching song about the power of their friendship reminded Emma and Mel of their own musical connection.
James & Marina
Act: Mentalism
Result: Advanced to Live Shows
An incredible bit of mindreading blew Emma and Mel away, especially when James and Marina somehow transferred their powers over to the Spice Girls.
Madelyn Tallent & Malachi Martin
Act: Music
Result: Eliminated
The talent is there, but they needed more experience.
Béty
Act: Singer
Result: Advanced to Live Shows
The young singer cried when she found out she was advancing, and honestly, so did we.
Simon Cowell’s Judges’ Callbacks results
Abiud Sando
Act: Dancer
Result: Advanced to Live Shows
During the Audition, Cowell struggled to picture how Sando’s viral trick could become a full-fledged performance, but adding more dancers and a drone camera proved his talent was fit for the big stage.
Nyjah Music & Zyah Rhythm
Act: Vocal Duo
Result: Advanced to Live Shows
They may be young, but they’ve got potential!
Akira
Act: Variety
Result: Advanced to Live Shows
The No-Show Show will go on.Â
Elsie
Act: Singer
Result: Advanced to Live Shows
The Beyoncé-esque singer let her vocals shine through once she stripped away the over-produced sound she had during her Audition.
Elektrodads
Act: Dance Group
Result: Eliminated
Their moves were on point, but Cowell thought they could do better after another year of practice.
Travis Garland
Act: Singer
Result: Advanced to Live Shows
Though he may have picked up come bad habits over the years, there’s no denying Garland’s innate talent.
