Strictly Come Dancing star Bethany Antonia has insisted she’s keeping it positive after winding up in the dance-off for the first time.
During Saturday’s live show, Bethany and her professional partner Nancy Xu came third from the bottom in the judges’ leaderboard.
However, after Dani Dyer was saved by the public’s votes, the House Of The Dragon star landed in the bottom two alongside Paralympic athlete Dame Sarah Storey and her dance partner Julian Caillon.
Ultimately, the judges voted to unanimously save Bethany and Nancy, who spoke about the dance-off in a candid social media post.
“We just did our first dance-off,” Bethany explained in the clip, thanking all her supporters who “did vote and gave us support for our dance last night”.
“Honestly it means so much, all the lovely comments, all the lovely messages and compilations everyone’s making,” she enthused.
“We are having so much fun doing this and I just feel so proud that I get to do this with Nancy and we’re honestly just having the best time. And the Cha Cha was not my dance. We can now say that.”
Bethany admitted that one positive of the dance-off was how “fun” it was to get to perform her Aretha Franklin-inspired Cha Cha Cha routine for a second time.
“That experience of being in the dance-off is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced,” she admitted. “But it just made me realise how much I want to be here – and how much I want to keep doing this. And so we go again!”
Looking ahead to this week’s live show, Bethany teased a “really good” routine for herself and Nancy on Saturday, claiming: “Before we went on, I was like, ‘I just want to make it through so we can do this dance because it’s really good’.
“And now we get to! So, thank you so much for all the lovely messages, and we go again.”
“Girl, you can do it!” Nancy concluded.
