Pen Underwriting, a multi-category, multi-territory managing general agent (MGA), has appointed Darren Glover as senior development underwriter for Northern Ireland.
Glover joins Pen’s Commercial Risk Management team, which serves brokers and clients across the UK, extending its network of dedicated underwriting expertise into Northern Ireland.
In his new role, Glover will drive the expansion of Pen’s broker-focused risk management-led commercial insurance business in Northern Ireland, managing and underwriting the performance of the portfolio and identifying Northern Ireland as a key region for growth.
He reports to Gordon Williams, Pen Underwriting regional underwriting manager for Scotland and Northern Ireland, and will work closely with Barry McCormick, Pen’s business development manager for Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Glover has more than thirty years of experience in property, casualty and owner risk. He began his career as a commercial insurance broker and has since held various senior development underwriter and underwriting manager positions, all based in Northern Ireland.
Glover has been working as Northern Ireland Underwriting Manager at MGA Generation Underwriting since 2021. Prior to this, he worked at MS Amlin, Chubb, Zurich and RSA.
The company explained that the appointment of a Belfast-based development underwriter further expands its existing UK regional network, making it easier for agents in Northern Ireland to transact with the MGA.
