PartnerRe to establish a branch office in India’s GIFT City

Bermuda-based reinsurance company PartnerRe has received regulatory approval to set up a branch in the International Financial Technology City (GIFT City) in the Indian state of Gujarat.

The new branch is part of PartnerRe’s Asia Pacific reinsurance business and is led by James Beedle, CEO of PartnerRe Asia Pte. Ltd. Ltd. and CEO of P&C Asia Pacific.

PartnerRe said the expansion reinforces its long-term commitment to the Indian market and the wider region.

GIFT City Branch will support Indian clients by improving responsiveness, ensuring regulatory consistency and streamlining business operations, while providing PartnerRe’s deep global underwriting expertise and local capital strength.

Beedle commented: “We are pleased to establish the GIFT City branch and deepen our support for Indian insurance companies and regionally. This milestone reflects our commitment to the region and confidence in India’s dynamic risk landscape. With our experienced local team and global resources, we look forward to building lasting partnerships and supporting our clients’ growth.”

PartnerRe is the latest company to be approved to set up a branch in Gift City. Earlier this month, Santam received a license to set up a reinsurance branch there. In January 2026, Saudi Reinsurance received approval to open a branch in GIFT City, while Korean Reinsurance announced plans to start operations of its Indian branch in April 2026.
