Pacific Life Re, the reinsurance arm of Pacific Life, announced the appointment of Dion Russell as executive vice president of commercial services and protection.
Russell has over 25 years’ experience in the life insurance industry, having worked in Asia, Australia and New Zealand. His career spans primary insurance, consulting and reinsurance, giving him broad insights into the industry.
Prior to joining Pacific Life Re, he led the Asia Pacific life and health business at a global reinsurance company. In this role, he was responsible for activities in the Korean and Japanese markets and served as CEO for Australia and New Zealand.
As a qualified actuary, Russell has developed expertise in a wide range of areas including business development, portfolio management, strategic planning, operations and governance.
In his new role, Russell will report to Elaine Murphy, senior vice president, chief actuary and chief pricing officer. He will also be a member of the Global Conservation Executive Committee and the Department’s Commercial Services Executive Committee.
