Prism, the managing general agent (MGA) recently backed by Convex and Efinity Insurance Solutions, has appointed Luca Ronsisvalle as head of ocean freight and Jan von Kamp as head of energy, power and renewables.
Both will report directly to Prism CEO and Chief Underwriting Officer Bobby Heerasing, who commented: “I am delighted to welcome Luca and Jan to the team to drive our core business forward as we embark on our underwriting journey in 2026 and beyond.
“Together Luca and Jan bring a wealth of industry and insurance experience to Prism and their appointments are testament to our ambition to build a leading multi-category MGA in Asia Pacific and beyond.
“Their technical appreciation of the marine and energy industries and their associated risks will enable us to provide an excellent service to our clients and grow the business where appropriate.
“Luca and Jane will be key drivers in building a sustainable business through profitable growth, talent development, strengthening relationships with key trading partners and an unwavering commitment to adding value to customers.”
Luca Ronsisvalle has over 25 years of experience in marine insurance and prior to joining AXA XL he was Head of Ocean Freight for Southeast Asia.
He has previously held senior underwriting and leadership roles in the international maritime market and has in-depth knowledge of the freight, war and maritime liability areas.
Ronsisvalle noted: “I am excited to lead Prism’s ocean freight business at a time when supply chain complexity, geopolitical risks and the energy transition are reshaping the risk landscape across the Asia-Pacific region.
“Our goal is to combine disciplined, creative underwriting with best-in-class service and technology to become the MGA partner of choice for brokers and clients in this space.”
Meanwhile, Jan von Kamp, who has more than 20 years of experience in the energy sector, joins Swiss Re Asia Ltd. as interim head of real estate for Southeast Asia and India.
He also previously held senior energy underwriting roles at HDI Global in Singapore and Europe as head of energy, dedicated and specialty at Asia Capital Re.
von Kamp said: “Energy and power customers in Asia Pacific are evolving rapidly as they face new challenges and shift to more sustainable business models.
“We must innovate with them. I’m excited to work with our brokers to help clients navigate this rapidly changing environment.”
