Michael Lewis has been promoted to president of Marsh Risk Canada, succeeding Sarah Robson, who will continue as CEO of Marsh Canada.
Effective April 1, Lewis will be responsible for the strategic development and execution of Marsh Risk’s commercial strategy in Canada, which spans specialty insurance brokerage solutions, risk advisory services and the company’s commercial, corporate and risk management client base.
He will also work closely with Marsh’s country leaders to deliver the firm’s capabilities in risk, reinsurance and capital, people and investments, and management consulting to clients.
Lewis will report jointly to Robson and Michelle Sartain, president of Marsh Risk in the United States and Canada.
Commenting on the appointment, Robson said: “Michael’s appointment comes at a critical time, as our Canadian clients face unprecedented economic and geopolitical volatility, including evolving trade policy, regulatory changes and complex global risks. His commitment to clients, deep experience and leadership will be critical in helping our clients navigate these challenges.”
Lewis currently serves as Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) of Marsh Canada and Head of Professionals and Industry at Marsh Risk Canada.
According to the announcement, the executive will retain his CCO position as well as his new responsibilities as president. New professional and industry directors will be appointed in due course.
Lewis has been with Marsh Risk since 2006, when he joined the company’s workforce strategy group in Australia. He moved to Hong Kong in 2013 to lead the workforce strategy group there, then moved to Canada in 2018 to become a national growth and industry leader.
Commenting on his appointment, Lewis said: “I look forward to working closely with colleagues across Canada to build on the strong foundation Sarah has built to deliver continued innovation and best-in-class service to our clients.”
