MDS strengthens Spanish operations with four senior hires

MDS Group, the insurance and reinsurance broking, risk advisory and benefits management company of Ardonagh Group, has expanded its presence in Spain with the appointment of four senior leaders across the employee benefits, marine and surety insurance sectors.

José Antonio Heredia has been appointed Director of Employee Welfare, while Manuel Lezama Leguizamón will assume the role of Maritime Director. These two strategic appointments are designed to strengthen MDS’s positioning in these high-value areas.

The pair are joined by Santiago Mufarech as Account Manager in the Maritime Division and Carlota Alba as Account Manager in the Guarantee Division, strengthening operational capabilities, customer service and support for the company in an increasingly complex environment.

Heredia has a long career in the insurance and employee benefits sector, having worked for companies such as Howden Employee Benefits, March RS (Banca March Group), ASISA and ADSLAS.

In his new role, he will lead the growth of this segment, strengthening the value proposition for companies and organizations looking for customized solutions that adapt to regulatory and social changes.

Leguizamón brings extensive experience in domestic and international marine and aviation insurance. In the past, he worked at Generali Global Corporate & Commercial, where he led the Marine & Aviation division in the Mediterranean and Latin America regions.

He also held leadership positions at Inversiones Proil, co-founded and served as Executive Director of Lebasoaz, and worked as an Account Manager at broker ATL.

In his new position, Leguizamón will enhance technical expertise and expand MDS’s ability to handle complex projects with international impact. He reports to Adrián Larrondo, General Manager of MDS Marine.
