Markel Insurance, the insurance business of Markel Group Inc., has promoted Phil Amlot to head of trade credit for Markel International, effective immediately.
In his new role, Amlot will report to Carl Titterton, managing director of trade credit, political risk and guarantees. He will be responsible for developing and leading the insurance company’s long-term strategy, profitable growth and team development.
Additionally, Amlot will be responsible for supporting global broker partners while maintaining local offerings and driving innovative, solution-led underwriting across the team.
He began his career at Markel in 2010 as a senior underwriter in trade credit, before moving to underwriting manager, head of Americas trade credit and political risk in 2014, where he established the U.S. operations of Markel’s trade credit division. In 2020, Amlot was promoted to head of trade credit underwriting. Prior to joining Markel, he held various underwriting and senior risk management positions at Coface UK and Independent Insurance Company Limited.
