Markel hires Michelle Sipple to lead inland marine underwriting strategy

Michelle Sipple has joined global insurance company Markel’s property and marine product leadership team as managing director, inland marine.

Sipple brings more than thirty years of inland marine and builders risk underwriting experience to Markel and will lead the company’s inland marine strategy.

“We’re so excited to have her on board!” Markle said.

She joins Markel after three years at Crum & Forster, where she served as Senior Vice President (SVP) Inland Marine. Prior to this, Sipple spent more than three years at Bermuda-based reinsurer Everest, where he served as head of inland marine and construction.

Earlier in his career, Sipple spent six years at Lexington Insurance Company, a division of AIG, where he served as executive senior vice president, E&S Property Portfolio, and global head of inland marine. Prior to that, she served as regional vice president of marine and inland maritime at ACE Westchester for five years.

Sipple also spent two years with Firemans Fund Insurance Company as regional underwriting director for inland, ocean and property. Her industry career began in 1998 with Chubb, where Sipple worked for 15 years, most recently as assistant vice president.
