Markel Insurance, the insurance business of Markel Group, has announced the appointment of Charlotte Major as Senior Claims Adjuster, Professional Indemnity, with immediate effect.
In his new role in London, Major will focus on resolving complex personal property claims for clients across a range of industries, including construction companies, accountants and insurance brokers.
She will work closely with Markel’s PI underwriting team to provide expert advice on contract wording, policy language, claims data and potential claims scenarios for renewal business, ensuring clients receive the best customized coverage.
Additionally, Major will be responsible for strengthening broker relationships to provide more targeted, value-added claims services. She will also take on a coaching role with a focus on the development of claims handlers within the team.
She will report to Markel International Claims Manager – PI Rachel Tighe, who commented: “The global professional indemnity insurance market is expected to grow from US$46.06 billion to US$68.19 billion by 2034, driven by increased litigation, regulatory developments and emerging cyber and artificial intelligence developments impacting professional services firms.”

Major has 15 years’ experience in litigation and pre-litigation work, focusing on motoring, employers’ liability, public liability and professional indemnity claims.
Prior to joining Markel, she worked at Collegiate Management Services Ltd, a PI Managing General Agent (MGA) and subsidiary of AmTrust Europe, where she most recently served as Senior Claims Manager.
Prior to that, she was a PI Claims Adjuster where she was responsible for evaluating and resolving complex claims issues, often under tight deadlines, while managing junior members of the team.
