Latham & Watkins LLP, a law firm that advises clients on complex business and regulatory matters, announced that Frank Monaco has joined its New York office as a partner in the firm’s M&A and Private Equity practice.

Monaco’s practice focuses on reinsurance matters, particularly transactions involving large reinsurance portfolios. His arrival strengthens Latham’s insurance business and adds regulatory experience that plays an increasingly important role in insurance company acquisitions, restructurings and newly established platforms.

“Frank is an excellent addition to Latham & Watkins’ top corporate insurance team, and we are pleased to welcome him to our New York office,” said Marc Jaffe, managing partner of Latham & Watkins’ New York office. “He brings deep insights that meaningfully enhance Latham’s ability to provide comprehensive and integrated advice to clients throughout the insurance business lifecycle.”

Monaco provides a wide range of transaction advisory services to insurers and reinsurers, including mergers and acquisitions, whole and flow reinsurance transactions, pension risk transfer arrangements and reserve financing. His practice frequently covers collateral structuring and core insurance regulatory considerations such as insurance holding company conduct compliance and licensing matters. Additionally, he works with private equity and private credit funds and asset managers to build and fund reinsurance platforms.

“Frank’s experience in structuring, negotiating and guiding reinsurance arrangements perfectly complements Latham’s existing top-tier insurance M&A capabilities in the world’s No. 1 M&A and Private Equity practice,” commented Alex Kelly, global co-chair of Latham’s M&A and Private Equity practice. “His arrival strengthens our ability to advise corporate, private equity and financial institution clients on their most important matters with unparalleled expertise.”

Monaco is the third partner confirmed in January as part of Latham’s continued expansion of its M&A and private equity practice in New York, following the previously announced additions of sports M&A and private equity partners Matthew Eisler and Russell Hedman.

He comes to Latham & Watkins from Clifford Chance, where he holds a J.D. from Fordham University School of Law and a BA from Trinity College.
