Hymans Robertson promotes Tom Caron to Operations Lead for its Risk Transfer team

Pensions and financial services advisory firm Hymans Robertson has announced the promotion of Tom Caron to head of operations in its risk transfer team.

In this role, Karen will be responsible for the operations of the team, leading resourcing, people development, knowledge sharing and regulatory compliance. He will also continue to advise trustees and sponsors on risk transfer projects.

Caron joined Hymans Robertson in July 2019, most recently as an actuarial consultant, working with trustees and companies of defined benefit (DB) plans, with a particular focus on risk transfer.

During his time with the firm, he has been involved in a variety of transactions of varying size and complexity, playing a key role in helping clients achieve their long-term strategic objectives. He has been involved in transactions with a total value of £3.5 billion.

Caron commented: “I have always felt extremely fulfilled as part of the fast-paced, dynamic risk transfer team at Hymans and I am excited to take on this role at a time when the market is moving faster than ever. Opportunities for plans of all sizes are growing as new insurers and established providers continue to expand capacity.

“A core part of our approach is a sharp focus on the member experience. My role will be to continue to strengthen the team’s operational capabilities, maintain a focus on members, and ensure that high-quality execution remains at the core of every transaction. I am committed to leading the team’s operations to help trustees, sponsors and members navigate this expanding market.”

James Mullins, partner and risk transfer specialist at Hymans Robertson, said: “Tom’s promotion to the role of Head of Operations comes at a critical time as we anticipate an unprecedented year for the market. Tom’s skillset is a perfect fit with the strategic direction of our team, against a backdrop of increasing appetite from insurers.

His experience across a variety of transactions, including some of the most significant in the market, makes him well-positioned to take on this expanded responsibility.
