HDI Global, an international insurance company specializing in servicing commercial and industrial clients, has appointed Peter Schraa as its new head of maritime in Singapore, effective December 1, 2025.
The appointment is in line with the insurer’s ambition to expand its presence in Southeast Asia and further strengthen its foothold in the region.
In his new role, Schraa will report to Alex Tarantino, Managing Director and Chief Officer of HDI Global Singapore. He will focus on expanding HDI Global Singapore’s marine underwriting capabilities in Southeast Asia.
In addition, Schraa will leverage its regional expertise to further develop the maritime portfolio, working closely with local underwriters in HDI Global’s Singapore office.
Singapore’s HDI Global said the region is a maritime focus area as it is a major maritime and trade hub in the Asia-Pacific region.
With this appointment, HDI Global aims to provide brokers and clients with customized solutions to the region’s evolving supply chain and logistics risks.
Schraa has more than two decades of experience in Europe and nearly a decade in Singapore, holding a number of senior underwriting positions within junior insurance companies.
