HDI Global Canada strengthens its maritime business under the leadership of Michael Wright. Michael Wright joined the corporate and specialty insurer in 2025 as head of Canadian maritime.
With decades of experience and a strong brokerage background, he has driven the sector’s growth in innovative ways, setting new standards for client-centric solutions and driving innovation across the Canadian market, the company said.
Wright brings more than three decades of deep expertise and strategic insight in the maritime sector, having started out as an insurance broker specializing in marine insurance and advising clients on complex cargo and liability risks.
Over the past two decades, however, his focus has turned entirely to underwriting.
Wright is a seasoned professional in the marine insurance field known for his leadership and management experience, driving progress and raising industry standards throughout his career.
HDI notes that his commitment to developing new talent, coupled with his passion for marine insurance and his proactive approach to identifying emerging trends and opportunities, have been instrumental in his success.
