Gallagher strengthens Romero Group with key appointments

Global insurance brokerage and risk management company Gallagher has announced two key leadership appointments for the Romero Group, which includes the Club Insure, NDML and Sentient brands.

Jonathan Webb will join the Romero Group on February 23 as regional managing director, overseeing all aspects of the business and 200 employees across four locations.

Webb brings a wealth of industry experience spanning a nearly 40-year insurance career. Prior to joining Gallagher, he was managing director for Scotland at Marsh and previously worked at Towergate.

The executive will succeed Simon Mabbb, who will remain with Gallagher in an advisory capacity to assist with the integration of AssuredPartners into the global brokerage in mid-2025.

Webb will report to Gary Fletcher, Gallagher’s commercial managing director for retail in the UK and Ireland.

Founded in 1997, Romero provides insurance and risk management services to organizations across a wide range of industries in the UK. These industries include construction, manufacturing, leisure and hospitality, including clubs, casinos, restaurants and hotels.

The company has offices in Leeds, Nottingham, Halifax and Harrogate.

Gallagher has also appointed Fiona McQuillan to the newly created role of commercial director of the Romero Group.

In her new role, McQuillan will focus on building capabilities and expanding its products and services. Prior to his appointment, the executive served as operations director and has been with the company for 15 years.

Commenting on the appointments, Fletcher said: “We are delighted to welcome Jonathan to Gallagher and to see Fiona advance to her new role as we continue to invest in deepening our leadership capabilities.

“Given the broad range of industries Romero serves, their combined market knowledge, experience and skills in building outstanding client propositions will be a valuable asset as we look to expand. From a broader integration perspective, we have made tremendous progress in bringing AssuredPartners’ various businesses to Gallagher over the past six months, and this work will continue in 2026.”
