DAC Beachcroft expands Miami office with new insurance practice

International law firm DAC Beachcroft has expanded its presence in the United States with the opening of a new Miami office and a new insurance team in Miami and Los Angeles.

Partner Joel McNabney and counsel Audrey Goldman, experts in insurance and reinsurance who advise insurers and underwriters on complex, high-risk underwriting matters, have joined the Miami firm.

The two will work closely with Sascha Stullenberg, business development manager for Latin America, who has held the position since 2015.

Meanwhile, in Los Angeles, Mitch Popham and Melina Kountouris serve as partners and of counsel, respectively.

Popham is an experienced trial attorney who has led multi-billion dollar cases involving commercial litigation, event cancellations, class action defense and high-stakes insurance disputes.

Kountouris advises insurance companies on complex underwriting matters, including first-party and third-party cases on general liability, errors and omissions, property and casualty, and cyber policies.

DAC Beachcroft opened an office in Miami in 2015 as a strategic hub to support its Latin America network, and the new office will play a central role in meeting client needs in the region.

Helen Faulkner, Managing Partner at DACB, said: “Our U.S. practice continues to grow rapidly and we are pleased to see this momentum build. By strengthening the exceptional talent in our U.S. team, we are tapping into a booming legal market that requires legal professionals who can handle disputes, compliance and claims issues with confidence and agility.”

Gustavo Blanco, Head of International Business at DACB, commented: “The United States is a dynamic and complex market, and to strengthen our position, we are creating new opportunities for clients and colleagues. This expansion demonstrates our commitment to providing market-leading expertise in the global insurance industry.”

In January 2025, DACB opened offices in New York and Los Angeles, integrating insurance teams from two different U.S. law firms. The New York office further expanded in March 2025, adding another well-respected insurance team.

In 2025, DACB also announced strategic partnerships with leading insurance law firms in Ecuador and Australia.

The company will expand in Latin America and Asia Pacific in 2024, opening offices in Hong Kong and Lima to enhance its global services in insurance, shipping, international trade and commodities.
