Specialty insurance company Brit Group Holdings Limited has announced the successful renewal of its US Hospital Professional Liability (HPL) Alliance 7882 for the 2026 coverage year, with a maximum coverage of US$10 million.
The alliance serves hospitals and health systems across the United States, bringing capacity to the healthcare market. Funding of $10 million will continue to be available for individual projects and can be deployed across multiple levels.
Brit highlighted the increased demand for HPL capacity due to post-pandemic financial pressures as well as social inflation and associated increases in settlement and judgment values. The insurance company’s syndicate focuses on the junior and lower residual tiers.
Tom Kennedy, Brit Medical Liability Underwriter, commented: “We are delighted with the renewal of Alliance 7882. This milestone marks the alliance’s fourth year and is testament to the confidence our alliance partners have in the team’s expertise and underwriting discipline.
“At a time when available capacity in US hospitals is increasingly constrained, the renewal of the consortium with 100% Lloyd’s of London capacity will ensure customers can continue to benefit from pre-arranged, pooled and diversified capacity provision.”
Jon Sullivan, chief underwriting officer at Brit Group, said: “Consortium 7882’s renewal comes at a critical time given the growing challenges facing the U.S. healthcare industry. We are proud to leverage our innovative capabilities to seamlessly manage our clients’ needs across plans and further build on our reputation as the world’s leading healthcare liability carrier.”
