Celebrity Traitors bosses have denied reports that behind-the-scenes “teasing” among the contestants began to get James Acaster down during his time in the castle.
On Sunday, the Daily Mail published a story alleging that during filming, James began to feel that jibes from fellow comedians Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan were becoming increasingly “at his expense”, leading him to become “annoyed and upset” behind the scenes.
The article went as far as saying that the Off Menu host even contacted production about the issue as he was feeling “singled out”, but the BBC has since insisted that the story is “categorically untrue”.

“Claims of teasing amongst the cast on the show and claims of complaints about teasing are categorically untrue,” a spokesperson told Radio Times. “There were no incidents of this nature and there is no evidence to support these allegations.”
Reps for both Rob and Romesh also dismissed the claims to the same outlet.
HuffPost UK has contacted James Acaster’s team for additional comment.
Shortly before the series of Celebrity Traitors got underway, it was reported that the stand-up comic had been involved in an incident that briefly led to filming being paused, after his co-stars stepped in to suggest he should be allowed “a breather” to collect himself.
A Celebrity Traitors spokesperson told HuffPost UK: “The Traitors is a unique and immersive game, and we recognise that taking part can be intense at times.
“Our highest priority is always the safety and welfare of everyone taking part. Players are closely monitored and supported throughout by production, which includes a dedicated and experienced welfare team.”
James’ team had no comment when contacted by HuffPost UK at the time.
Friday’s episode of Celebrity Traitors ended on a cliffhanger as James and Maya Jama looked to have “murdered” either Ross Kemp or Jerry Hall in plain sight.
The Celebrity Traitors continues on Thursday night at 8pm on BBC One.
