AXIS expands Draper’s role to Head of AXIS Re, Haugh named Group COO

Bermuda-based insurer and reinsurer AXIS Capital Holdings Limited has expanded Dan Draper’s role to include head of AXIS Re and appointed Ann Haugh to the newly created position of group chief operating officer (COO).

These appointments are part of a planned succession and leadership development process. Both will continue to report directly to AXIS President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Vince Tizzio and serve as members of the company’s Executive Committee.

Draper currently serves as AXIS Group Chief Underwriting Officer and will remain based in London. In his new role, he will oversee AXIS’s global specialty reinsurance business.

Additionally, Draper will now be responsible for re/inuserr’s AXIS ILS division and will continue to oversee its AXIS Capacity Solutions capabilities.

AXIS’ reserves and capital modeling functions, which previously reported to Draper, will now become part of the CFO organization.

In the meantime, Howe will remain based in New York and in her new role, drive operational excellence and transformation across the business.

As of June 2022, she serves as CEO of AXIS Re. The appointment follows the continued positive impact on AXIS’s operations and productivity, driven by the ‘How We Work’ programme, which Haugh has led since its launch in 2023.

Finally, Lauren Kent has been promoted to the newly created position of global head of casualty and specialty lines, reporting directly to Draper.

Tizzio commented: “We are proud to announce the new appointments of Ann and Dan. Both are outstanding leaders and have played a key role in driving AXIS’s aggressive transformation into a top global specialty underwriter.
